Lag Ba'Omer Picnic

Today, with sunshine overhead, we went outside for a Lag ba'Omer picnic lunch.
Thanks to Mrs. Schonberger for obtaining all of the food items...and...for cooking the hot dogs for us.
Thanks also goes out to the parents who were there to assist us during the lunch period.

Earth Day

Mrs. Katz, our Science teacher, had her classes involved in several special activities today for Earth Day. Here the 4th grade students are demonstrating how fragile the Earth is by throwing an egg (colored to depict the Earth).
Dirt cake and H2O were also eaten as part of the Earth Day celebration.

Here students toss an egg, (colored as the earth) back and forth, attempting to catch and protect it at all costs.

Time Machine

The sixth grade class has been working on a research project on ancient civilizations since earlier in the school year.
Their project resulted in a special culminating activity that involved all of the other Akiva students.
The other classrooms were invited to visit and to enter a “time machine” that would transport students to far away lands of long ago.
After exiting the “time machine”, students were issued passports and were sent to places such as Mesopotamia, Greece, India, Rome, China and Egypt.

Presidential Active Lifestyle Awards

Miss Darla, our Physical Education teacher, presents the Presidential Active Lifestyle Awards to Lexi, Eric and Arsenia. Students were able to independently log their "active lifestyle" and submit their log for approval and for the award. Students were required to show that they had done activities for at least one hour a day, six days a week for six weeks.

Good job. Congratulations!!
