Washington D.C. - Photos

The eight sixth graders, along with two chaperones thoroughly enjoyed their three day visit to the nation's capitol.

A busy, fun-filled three days included most of the sites in Washington, along with a visit to the office of Congressman Tim Ryan.

Washington D.C. - Video

Three of our Grade 6 students had the opportunity to place a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on the Sunday we arrived in D.C. while the adult chaperones, their classmates and many other visitors observed.
What a solemn experience!

25th Anniversary Reception

On May 16th, a Reception and Reunion was held for Akiva's 25th Anniversary.
The event was held at the Davis Center at Fellowship Park in Mill Creek.

Present and past staff members, past graduates and parents spent time during the afternoon reception reminiscing many events that are tied to Akiva's history.

"Week of Celebration" - Wednesday - Volleyball Game

Today we had a volleyball game... Grade 6 vs. Teaching Staff.

A really good time!!!! And the winner .... TEACHERS!!!


"Week of Celebration " Tuesday - "Jocko" the Clown

As we came into the All Purpose Room , Jocko the clown was putting on his makeup.


He then had a program of magic, juggling and balloon sculpturing. He also had a message throughout his assembly, "Reading is Magic."









25th Anniversary - Week of Celebration - Monday


A spaghetti dinner, followed by comments from Mrs. Goist and two past graduates and then a balloon launch out in front of our building.


A very nice "kick-off" to our "Week of Celebration".

Science Fair

Akiva held its annual Science Fair on March 10.

Ten judges were invited to view the completed projects and to listen as the students discussed the process and the outcomes of their various projects.

Judging concluded by late morning and the ribbon winners were announced that afternoon.

Parents and friends were invited back to Akiva in the evening to view all of the science fair projects that were on display from 6-7:00 P.M.



Grades K-3 created classroom projects for the science fair. They had the opportunity to present their information to the judges also.


Our "Best of Show" was awarded to sixth grader, Arsenia Georgopoulos.

Congratulations, Arsenia!!

Purim Events

After School Enrichment Classes

We recently began two of our after school enrichment classes. We are offering a yoga class, along with a golf class.


As can be seen from these photos, all seem to be enjoying the classes.

Spelling Bee

Yesterday afternoon we held our annual Spelling Bee at the JCC All-Purpose Room. Thirty-six students from grades 3-6 participated. Parents, friends, family, and other Akiva staff and students attended the event.

Each student, confidently attempts to spell correctly the word they are given...



...and it gets down to the five remaining students...


Our winner is Sophie and Morissa is our runner-up.


Andrea won the written spelling bee that was held the day before. All three of the winners display one of their prizes.
